April 25th, 2024 “SPIRITUAL AWARENESS”

This week, we came to understand how important it is to be spiritually aware daily. We learned that our acknowledgment of spiritual things and the realization that our fight is not physical is only the beginning. We learned that more than just acknowledging or realizing these things are true, we have to believe them at heart. We must have an active faith that coincides with our acknowledgment and behave as though we truly believe it is real. We must believe it enough to actually think, speak, and live as though it truly is our reality.

God has provided us with a plethora of weapons to ensure we are victorious in this fight. However, it is our faith that gives us access to receive them. These weapons are far from physical, for they are only found in Christ.

This is why spiritual awareness is vital. If we are consumed with the things designed and produced by worldly mindsets our focus will be set on all that is physical and temporal, and our real battle will go unseen. We came to understand that to become and remain spiritually aware we have to intentionally keep God and all that pertains to Him on our minds. We do so by purposely engaging in conversation with Him while deliberately digging through His word daily.

We were reminded that as long as we have breath in our lungs and life to live, spiritual growth and maturity in Christ should be an everyday goal. This means that humility should be a quality within the foundation of our character. If we are unable to be humble we will be unable to see our need for growth, thus causing us to make no effort to mature in Christ.

When it comes to maturity, the senses that allow us to interact with this physical world can be trained and exercised to interact with the spiritual and unseen world. Again, this is a daily practice that begins with daily placing our mind on God and everything in connection to Him. It was also made obvious that we cannot do anything apart from God. So, although we can exercise our senses, the gift and ability to do so has to be given by God. Through humility, we must stay aware of our need for God because the weapons and gifts needed to maneuver through this spiritual battlefield are only accessible in Him.

If our minds are carnal, we will process everything we hear and see logically or physically. However, when we are spiritually aware, we are able to hear God clearly in all situations. This is what helps us understand exactly what it means to walk by faith and not by sight.

When we find ourselves looking through a carnal lens. When our perception is only able to analyze things physically or naturally, we can become overwhelmed, anxious, and never settled. This can cause us to make choices and decisions completely opposite of faith. Yet, when we are able to see spiritually we become confident, bold, and unmoved by the things we see and hear. When we use our worldly or physical intelligence and personal logic we can only identify the things in life as we understand them. And we know our understanding apart from God is extremely limited. When we have spiritual understanding, we are able to see beyond the physical circumstances, allowing us to respond based on God’s truth, which is the reality of all situations.

In conclusion, we understood that spiritual things are real, and the battles we fight ultimately stem from a war that is unseen by the physical mind. Our spiritual awareness is key to being victorious in this life. This awareness is initiated by our faith and dependency on God and Him only. He is the one who created it all. The one who is Spirit and from that spiritual place spoke and caused physical reality to begin existing. So then, for our spiritual senses to become heightened and our spiritual awareness to stay active, we must go to Him and ask for the things that will help us become and stay spiritually aware. So that we are no longer victims and casualties of this war. Remember, we are only strong and able to stand by the power of God.
