September 26th, 2024 “FRUIT”

This week we discussed fruit and how it is the result or product of any action we take. Through Christ, God compares us to trees and illustrates that we know what type of tree we’re looking at by the fruit it produces. Every tree is either good or bad, and the type is determined by what it produces. This is how the inspection of fruit will always produce the identity of the tree we’re observing.

Therefore, if we identify as followers of Christ we must have fruit that people can inspect that points to Christ and glorifies God. As believers and disciples, as trees, we’ve been born again or replanted for the purpose of bearing fruit. The reason why is because all that we do in life as those who follow, should produce things that honor and esteem God. It is by living in obedience and walking in faith that others come to respect God through our actions.

For that reason, we have to stay on course and pay attention to how we live because our fruit is evidence that transformation is taking place. Our fruit reveals whether or not our claims are true or false. So then, as disciples, our fruit should show we’re being changed while displaying the power of God to those who don’t believe.

The type of fruit that God desires has its origin in Him. This is why we are called to abide and remain in Christ. To be in Christ is to feed on what He provides, receiving His life. We must accept His way over ours and do what He asks when He asks. This is the only way we are able to produce fruit that He approves of. When we agree and follow His voice instead of our own. The outcome produced is His. Therefore, it is not our fruit, it is the fruit of the Spirit.
In the end, we must understand that God has chosen us to be a reflection of His character in the world.

He designed us to radiate a divine light to feed those we may encounter. When we do the things He requires of us it glorifies Him by revealing His will in certain situations.

As God’s children, He wants us to be useful for the work that needs to be done on earth. However, the process of becoming useful requires us to grow more and more each season. As long as we stay connected to the source God will provide all we need. The narrow and difficult path requires transformation but is established through relationship. This means that repentance is a requirement as well. We must always find ourselves turning from something and turning towards God. As long as we release everything to Him He will plant us where lack is nonexistent. God will make provision for what is needed, all we have to do is trust Him. Fruit is an outward action that reflects our heart. Therefore, if we trust God with our hearts it will be seen in our actions. In the same way, our actions will reveal the type of tree we are.
