July 4th, 2024 “THE NARROW WAY”

This week we were reminded that we are on a narrow path that is ordained by God. The scriptures say that only a few find it, so for us to have found it is a tremendous blessing and privilege. If we understand this, it is our job to develop a gratitude that would drive us towards a wholehearted commitment to stay on it. There are so many people traveling down the wrong road leading to an eternity separated from God. It’s the same road we have all traveled down at some point which is even more of a reason to be thankful.

Once we find the narrow gate we must stay aware that we’ve only made it to this point because of the truth and light God has given us and turned on. Being this is a road we have not traveled before, there are a lot of things we must release and separate from that we picked up on the route we’ve taken in the past. The Holy Spirit is a teacher who only presents truth and won’t allow us to become comfortable where there’s no progress happening through love and a desire to see us closer to Him. He will reveal things we don’t like and ask us to do things we may not want to do. Yet it is all for the benefit of us reaching His desired destination. We have to remember that Jesus Himself told us it is narrow and difficult.

This means that the truth, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that is revealed to us by God is vital to keeping us on track. It is these revelations that we must stand on every single day in order to make progress towards our destination of true life. When we agree with and apply the things God speaks to us, growth and maturity become our result.

The further we make our way down this path our objective is to become true disciples of Jesus Christ. Those who have come to the place of daily denying ourselves and crucifying our fleshly nature. Growth and maturity are about weaning off milk and becoming able to process solid food.

However, the only way to go through the process correctly is to humble ourselves and develop humility as a dominant characteristic. We have to remember that walking this walk is new to all of us even if we have been walking it for a while. Every step we take further down the road brings experiences that are deeper than the ones prior. Also, there is no way for us to teach ourselves something only God knows. Yet through humility, we have to be willing to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us without acting like we already know.

That is the only way that our fleshly way of thinking can be transformed to be in alignment with the mind of Christ. For that reason we all have a need to receive revelation from God and when we do we have to stand with our feet planted on the truth; knowing the devil will come in and attempt to cause us to doubt. There is no other way to reach God who is the creator of all except through Christ who He sent as the entrance to the narrow road. Humility is key because on our own there is no way to approach God. This is the right and authority that He gave Christ we are given the right ourselves.

This is the foundation of our faith, Jesus Christ the Son of the living God.
