May 9th, 2024 “WE NEED A REVELATION”

This week we learned how important it is as a believer to receive continuous revelation from God. There are more than enough reasons why this is a necessity on our walk down the narrow road. When we receive revelation, we obtain a message full of instructions and directives that will produce the outcomes God intends for our lives. Hearing from God is what allows us to know with certainty what we should place our faith in. It is also designed to notify us exactly where we are in life and where we need to be headed.

Without a revelation or message from God, there are no true requirements or restrictions in play to keep us within the boundaries set by our Father. However, when we do have instructions from above, we know exactly what we’re supposed to be doing and how. The only way to maintain our footing on such a small and trying road is to hear from God and follow whatever it is He is saying.

We learned that we have to pay attention and really test where any revelation we accept comes from. The reason we must be alert is that the devil has the spiritual ability to manifest things that can be misleading and very deceptive yet portray truth. Being that we are in the process of overcoming a worldly mentality. Our heart’s desire for worldly things can cause us to believe in God for our purposes instead of His. This is the reason we need to always be attentive.

We also came to an awareness that any so-called wisdom that is derived from selfish wants and feelings of discontentment can cause confusion, therefore it is not from God. His wisdom is free of all contamination and conflict. It is established in humility, honesty, and love. It is not concerned with self. Rather, it is interested in benefiting others. This awareness gave us insight on how to differentiate the many voices that attempt to influence us. It showed us how we must truly test the spirits to know if it is God that we are hearing from. True revelation from God will always point back to Him and His purposes. It will always drive us towards character development as opposed to things and objects. It will bring unity through the Spirit and consider others more than self.

Now, revelation cannot be obtained or intellectually apprehended. It has to be received and accepted within the spirit through faith and has to be revealed by God Himself. This can only take place through a personal relationship and willingness to yield ourselves to His way of doing things. We must value and take His advice over our own as well as any advice that is not rooted in godliness. No matter what we think or plan out, the only thing that is guaranteed to work is the counsel of God given through revelation. This is why having a relationship with God is a must. It is only through true communication that we are able to receive revelation and without it, we are left to our own. However, once we do receive and grasp what God is saying or showing us, we have to apply the necessary actions because faith without works is dead.
